Is 7 days in Kauai too much?

No. Seven days is the first trip length where Kauai stops feeling rushed: the island has five genuinely distinct anchor days, boat, canyon, river, north shore and ranch, and a week lets you give each one its own morning plus a flex day for weather. What do you do when it rains?

Swap, do not cancel. Rain on Kauai is usually local and short: the luau and the ATV ranch run in it, the saimin counters of Lihue were made for it, and a wet north shore often means a dry south shore twenty minutes on. Only the canyon lookouts and the boat truly need clear skies.
